Ten Years of Rupert Neve Designs (& Three Giveaways)

2015 marks the tenth anniversary of Rupert Neve Designs. Founded in 2005 by Rupert and Evelyn Neve, the company has come a long way since its early days – and this summer, we’re asking you, our clients and fans, to celebrate with us by sharing your favorite Rupert Neve Designs “mix tips” on social media for a chance to win free gear. Read on for details:

So how did Rupert Neve Designs come into existence? According to Mr. Rupert Neve, “I’ve been a designer my whole life – and after my consultancy with Amek ended, I was looking for an outlet to keep creating. Around this time, I was talking to a former colleague, Josh Thomas, and we came to the idea that we could found a new company to design and build these new creations from my new home in Texas.”

Josh Thomas, co-founder and General Manager of the company, has this to to say of our first decade: “From our humble beginnings with a single two-channel mic pre, we have been able to grow the range quite a bit, providing the quality and sonic benefits for which Mr. Neve’s designs have been known for 40 years. In the last ten years we have matured greatly. We’ve grown from a handful of people working together in a spare room at Rupert’s house, to our own facilities with a full R&D team and production staff.”

On the company’s core mission: “It was imperative from the onset of Rupert Neve Designs that we not only carry on Rupert’s design work, but pass along his knowledge and philosophies of audio circuitry to the rest of the design team. Moving into the future, the design team will be able to carry forward those concepts in new applications, ranging from recording studios to live sound, broadcast to home audio.”

“My proudest moment from Rupert Neve Designs was the first time Rupert and I powered on the 5088 mixer and listened to a full mix through it. At that instant, I knew we had achieved something truly special.“

More from Mr. Rupert Neve: “What makes me most proud is the way the team has come together to follow my lead. We’ve been very fortunate to have several engineers with the same driving interest in music and knowledge of audio circuitry. Many of my concepts were new to them, but they very quickly picked up what I was trying to do, and helped me achieve a better performance than I could have on my own. Together, they have worked away with me to produce a sound quality which is second to none throughout the entire world.”

To commemorate our tenth year in business, we’re running a contest this month through our social media channels using the hashtag #ilovemyRupertNeve.

Prizes consist of an RNDI Active Transformer Direct Interface, a 511 500-Series Mic Preamp with Silk, and our flagship Portico II Channel.
